Boardgame Cafe

We came in for a quick look around and ended staying for the afternoon. We played a few rounds of photosynthesis on the adult side. We each ordered a beer and enjoyed our afternoon. I love the bar side since you cant hear kids. The game selection is fantastic. It was only $32 for two beers, two players and a bowl of candy. We will for sure be back.

Cool. Didn't have murder mystery games though hence 4 stars. Told me they stopped making them in 90s yet...you can buy them new online.

Yesterday was my first time in this place & it was amazing!! I went with my Mom and My sister and her fiance (my sister and her man showed us this place 😸). So, there is tons of board game choices, a decent menu with decent prices, a child friendly area, AND on weekdays it's ONLY $3/person to play up until 3pm (if you stay later then that it changes to $6/person to play). The latte's are amazing & the staff are pretty chill. I'll definitely be going back to check it out again with my son, I think he will LOVE it!! Definitely worth the 5 stars !

This place is great, they are super helpful here. We played two games nobody knew and both times a staff person came over to help us out. They serve beer in one half and there is candy and snacks on the other side too.

Huge selection of board game to try out and to purchase. One of the best, if not THE best, milkshakes (dairy free options as well!!) in Victoria. Super friendly staff who are very knowledgeable and make picking up a new game a complete breeze! Oh, also... they're licenced now. Win-win-win.

Love it here, especially since they started serving alcohol. I just wish it was a bit bigger or they opened a second location since it's so popular.

I have been to multiple board game "bars" around North America and I must say that this is the best one I have been to yet. It has amazing food, drinks, decor, and a giant selection of games. They even gamify the process of buying drinks giving you the ability to roll for a shot/cocktail. All the tables are named after board games and have beautiful art work. The milk shake I had was delicious. We unexpectedly spent the whole day there. It was such a great place. If you like board games and are in the area you really should check it out.

Lots of game selections and friendly atmosphere. Pretty long waiting time in the evening, we live across the street so it’s alright but would recommend going early!

Fun place. Serves beer and has board games. Self serve for beer - have to go up to the bar. Limited seating, so can be considerable wait times to get in. Faster if you're all 19+. Have to pay at the counter by the entrance. This is the same counter/person that is managing the wait list for seats. Reeeeeaaally slow and disorganized. And it's a tight space for everyone standing there Not the employees fault - definitely a poor design choice by management.

This place is a wholesome establishment with the primary focus of facilitating gameplay among their patrons. They have an abundance and redundance of boardgames, excellent knowledge of their library, and an easy system for ordering food and drink.I would say their secondary focus is food and drink, but that's not to say it's bad. They've got fantastic milkshakes and yummy pizza, among other fine choices. Their bar is good as well.There is no wifi, which perfectly exemplifies the kind of social atmosphere they're going for. I can't wait to come back!

I've been going here for years because it is a fun, affordable place to relax and hang out with friends. Hopefully they can fix their popcorn machine soon.

Plenty of games to choose from; extremely helpful and friendly staff; candy, pizza, popcorn, milkshakes and beer - really, what more could a girl ask for?! My friends and I have had many fun evenings engaging in absurdity. Give it a whirl.

I've been lucky enough to visit this cafe every time I come to visit Canada. It's honestly the coziest space to simply sit around and play some board games with friends. You really can't find a place like this in Portland, I love it. One of the saddest things though is that, lately, the popcorn machine has been out of commission. I have been missing the popcorn for the past few visits to BC and I hope they can repair it soon so I might once again be able to enjoy such a delightful treat at the BGC

Really cool - wish they had more gluten free snacks or organic tea options, would give 5 stars for that. The game options were diverse and the staff give suggestions and support. The vibe was friendly. Avoid sitting directly beside the bathrooms if you have allergies or sensitivities to chemicals, smells of bleach when they're cleaning. Great hours...nice that there is a place like this to go so late in the evening.

A great night at the Board Game Cafe! We enjoyed the selection of games, reasonable cover charge and the candy bowls. The staff were super helpful and explained some game mechanics to us when we asked for help. A+ job guys.

We sat down with seven people for a quick warm up game of munchkin, and three hours later we finished having realized we butchered the rules quite badly on several fronts. The game ended with two rules lawyers debating a static argument while the rest of the table rolled their eyes at each other. 111/10 would experience again.Also, was called Kevin, called someone not named Kevin, "Kevin" and then laughed with actual Kevin about getting people's names wrong. The rock star life of board gamers.

Excellent place to visit anytime of day with friends and family. Open delightfully late compared to most places in Victoria. Impressive and expansive collection of every kind of game you can think of! Ones to play and if you love it, heck you can buy it at the front! I love that I've found a new place to spend time with dear ones that doesn't have to revolve around drinking, though there is an offset room designated to do so if one wishes. Awesome staff, very friendly and enthusiastically welcoming to everyone. To top it off there's a snack and classic style milshake bar from which the treats are delivered right to your table! I spend too much time here. It's a great place to gather with friends and play board games. The food is good, especially the Big Pig sandwich, but avoid the espresso as it is very bitter and oily. However, an espresso milkshake is delicious.

This place has a huge assortment of boards! Everytime I visit here with my friends, I'm always excited to try new board games and fine the ones we like playing. There's so many choices that it's sometimes hard to choose which to spend time one. Also the food is really good and lots of options. The milkshake are a must when coming here!The tables are also good in size for many of the board games I play. The tables for bug groups also has curtains in between each table to give privacy and some sound proofing, which is well appreciated.The only issue is the tables can get full at busy hours, like 5pm to 6pm, and waiting times drag on for up to an hour sometimes. I say it's worth the wait, I stay here until 1am anyways. Heading at 4pm is the sweet spot for me since that's usually the time when people are leaving.Would 100% recommend this place for a chill board game night with good food and atmosphere.

Always really busy, the front is usually packed and disorderly. The boardgames are often not in good condition. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice but it's just such a hassle to get a table.

We had a great time here on a Saturday afternoon. The selection of games was second to none. Will definitely be coming back!

Awesome place to spend an evening with friends. They have exactly the kind of food you want while playing g board games and a liscenced area so you can get a beer! You can buy games here to take home or get a table and play one of theirs - great way to test out a new game before buying! The staff are awesome and the concept is great - would definitely recommend for anyone looking to have a great time.

This has quickly become one of my favourite places to be. With an amazing selection of over 500 games to play, there is always something new to try. Decent food and super friendly staff that is more than willing to show you have to play a game (on busy nights they actually have a dedicated games teacher).Highly recommended!Also, they have the best milkshakes (try the espresso or the London fog).

This is literally the most wonderful place in Victoria.You may be thinking "I think he means figuratively, people usually mean figuratively when they say literally", but no, I mean literally. I went to Victoria to visit family, and the only thing I put on my to-do list was to spend an entire day here. Having just done that, I can confirm that it is definitely the most fabulous place in Victoria.They have more games than most people knew existed, and the staff are wonderful. They also serve food, so you can literally play games all day long. Food is a bit on the expensive side (disclaimer: I also think McDonald's is on the expensive side, so YMMV), but the gameplay cover is cheap enough to make up for it. And it isn't like they have 18 copies of monopoly (though they do have a few versions for those so inclined), they have a carefully curated selection of about a thousand of the very best games.Anyhow. I'm a fan.

My friends love this place! We go out often and can fit nine people at a table. The food and drinks are incredible (I suggest the milkshakes) and everything is paid on a tab system. You can order a pizza and split it amongst the people at the table. There are tons of games and the staff will suggest and teach games to groups. I went there with one other friend and got a table for two, and that was good as well. I also can host D&D games there. If you leave before 3 on a weekday, you pay $3 instead of $5 for a seat.

Well organized and some great games. I didn't really try the did options. I had their dairy free milk shake and it was delicious. We were unfortunately rushed out to make way for a reservation, which I wish was planned better when they seated us. I'd still glad go again

Been going here for a few months now, as it's a nice central spot for me and my friends to meet after work one in a while and play some D&D. No way we could regularly do it anywhere else with where we live and with our schedules.Feels great to reconnect with old friends over some dice and potato chips. Thanks for everything!

So many games to choose from! And they have candy, popcorn, and booze. This is basically an adult daycare and I love it.

Interactivity is by far and away the best deal in town for spending a few hours hanging out and playing games with friends. The food's alright, the game library is huge, and not once have I left there feeling like I didn't get my money's worth. Can be very busy on the usual nights, so call ahead if you're worried about it or unwilling to wait for a table. If you're new to boardgames in general or to specific, trickier games, and you go at a slower time, the staff are super helpful in figuring things out. A well deserved five stars.

Great cafe type place with a huge library of games and $6 to play as much as you like. Apparently their milkshakes are great too (from the people I was with) and they have other snacks available for when you play. You can also purchase games here that you played. Nice little place and always busy.
